Madder Roses Jacket

Madder is an ancient dye plant with a long story, rising and falling in importance with new discoveries throughout history. Good Madder is expensive, and takes time and patience in use.

This jacket was designed after some experimental work with Madder resulted in a wide range of shades - reds, burgundies and browns, russets and terracottas and sandy pinks. It harks back to Tudor times in a short waisted style, crochet lace edges and a pattern inspired by the formality of knot gardens and madder-red roses. Shade will vary slightly with each new batch of yarn.

Knitted to order only from hand-dyed and undyed shades of British organic Shetland wool.
